This is a very handy utility that I’ve used consistently for years now. I’ve been updating it since VS 2003 days. Originally from Scott’s blog, IIRC.
You can just download the vs2012cmdhere.inf, righ-click the downloaded .inf and select Install. This will add the following context menu:
And the command can even be uninstalled from Add/Remove programs.
Enjoy!

Hi Daniel. Nice tool. I have installed it but I only get normal command prompt not VS2012 command prompt on Windows 8 RTM ?
Sorry my fault. I am sleepy so I have been installed on machine where I don’t have VS2012…
Fantastic. I didn’t know one can create such things with a text file…
And does it usually require a reboot, or a log off/log on?
Nop, it’s actually refreshed immediately
It was not added to the explorer background context menu, and that caused me to think it requires a restart of explorer.
Since it was more handy to access it in the current folder (instead of accessing it in the parent folder, for one of the children) I modified it a little bit, so that it appears also in the current folder’s background context menu. It is available here:

Awesome update!
Any chance you can publish how to make this work for VS 2002?
VS2003 is the best I can do for you: http://www.hanselman.com/blog/content/binary/VSNet2003cmdhere.inf
Hi-many thanks-this works and is so useful. One day I hope I will grow into a real programmer & do stuff like this myself but until then thank you for making your good work freely available. I can vaguely remember how to do this stuff (editing the registry) but for now it is much easier to use your file and job is done in a flash. I needed this because my MSVisStudio2010 cmd prompt tool has gone u/s along with my MSVisStudio2010 & I have installed MSVisStudio2012 Express but want a cmd compile option.
Again, thanks and best wishes
thx!
Just a visual addition
